CTF Information Security Tournament Held at KBTU with the Support of BCC

On 26 April 2025, Almaty hosted the Infosecday 2025, a CTF Information Security Tournament organized with the support of Bank CenterCredit (BCC) and the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU). More than 180 students and young professionals from across Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan attended the event that offered them a unique opportunity to showcase their skills in cybersecurity.

As part of the Infosecday, the CTF Tournament was held, where participants solved real cybersecurity challenges, including vulnerability analysis, cryptography, and soft error exploitation. The prize pool for the tournament was KZT 1 million.

“The purpose of this event is to bring students together and explain the importance of secure software development. With the growing number of threats, data protection is becoming increasingly critical, and it is essential to understand how to develop software securely at every stage — from planning to deployment into the live environment. Participation in the CTF Tournament helps to develop hands-on experience, improve teamwork, and strategic thinking. Our goal is to foster a culture of secure development among future professionals. Bank CenterCredit actively supports education and young talent, recognizing that students are the future of our industry,” said Dmitry Shaposhnikov, Executive Director for Information Security at Bank CenterCredit.

Moreover, leading industry experts delivered their speeches as part of the event and shared their knowledge and experience in cybersecurity. Speakers discussed current threats, data protection methods, and the importance of building secure software development skills. Their presentations were a valuable part of the event, providing participants with key insights for their further professional development.

“First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to Bank CenterCredit for organizing such a large-scale event for students. Today’s Infosecday is not only a competition between teams, but also a platform for exchanging experience between beginners and professionals in their field. Participants have the opportunity to gain valuable insights that will help them in their further growth. In recent years, more and more students have been choosing careers in information security, and events like this are important step to their professional development,” emphasized Azamat Imanbayev, Dean of the School of Information Technology and Engineering at KBTU.

The Infosecday 2025 winners are: 1st place — Friends Team from AITU and Satbayev University, 2nd place — Mimicats team from Al-Farabi KazNU, and 3rd place — Arrsi team from the Innovative Technical College. These teams demonstrated excellent results in solving cybersecurity tasks, including vulnerability analysis and cryptography.

Bank CenterCredit will offer internships to the most talented and outstanding students. This provides participants with a unique opportunity to launch their careers in information security and gain practical experience at the country’s leading financial institution.
