In April, representatives of the bank visited Tbilisi to participate in business negotiations with leaders of leading Georgian financial institutions—TBC Bank, ProCredit Bank, and Basis Bank. The main topics discussed included approaches to implementing ESG principles within financial organizations, including responsible financing, management of social and environmental risks, addressing environmental responsibility issues, and sustainable corporate policies.
The delegation consisted of Vice President and Board Member Anastasia Ovsyannikova, Head of Sustainability Development Directorate (ESG), Chief Sustainability Officer Arnur Ibrayev, as well as representatives from other divisions involved in implementing the Climate Strategy. During a two-day working program, delegates studied best practices from leading Georgian banks in green finance.
"In line with our long-term climate strategy, we have set ambitious goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and expanding 'green' financing," commented Arnur Ibrayev, Head of Sustainability Development Directorate (ESG). "To achieve these objectives, it is valuable to study successful international banking experiences that have already achieved significant results in ESG projects and attracting sustainable funding from international financial institutions. This will allow us to accelerate implementation of similar solutions and enhance measures aimed at fulfilling our climate commitments."
As a result of the discussions, agreements were reached on further cooperation and mutual exchange of positive experience in sustainable development across the financial sector.
